Konyaaltı, the bay under the cliffs

Between the Taurus mountains and the Mediterranean, at the western edge of Antalya, a village landscape became one of the city's most loved places to live. This is where we are opening.

Where the name comes from

Konyaaltı is usually traced back to “koy altı”, the bay below. Old Antalya sits high on the cliffs, and the long beach to the west lies beneath them, stretching towards the harbour with the Beydağları mountains rising behind it.

From villages to a city by the sea

  1. Antiquity

    Olbia

    The area was already settled in ancient times. Historians place the ancient city of Olbia here, on the border between Lycia and Pamphylia.

  2. Until the 1980s

    Orchards, fields and streams

    Much of today's Konyaaltı was farmland. Villages such as Arapsuyu and Uncalı grew crops and grazed sheep, and small streams ran down to the sea.

  3. From the 1980s

    Antalya grows west

    Roads, homes and the beach park turned the villages into city neighbourhoods. Konyaaltı became its own district and is now home to around 200,000 people.

  4. Today

    A cosmopolitan neighbourhood

    Families from all over Türkiye and the world live here side by side, with a large Russian-speaking community among them.

Liman: the harbour neighbourhood

Liman means harbour, and the name says it all. The neighbourhood lies at the western end of Konyaaltı, close to Antalya's port and the Setur yacht marina. It is a place of quiet garden complexes, cafés, the beach promenade and evening walks by the sea.

    Konyaaltı Beach

    Kilometres of pebble beach and a long promenade, perfect for a walk with a chai to go.

    The fishing harbour

    Small boats, fishermen and the smell of the sea, a few minutes from our door.

    Sunsets over the mountains

    In the evening the sun sets behind the Taurus mountains and turns the whole bay gold.
